Exterior Perspective

Since the Thatcher government, politicians have maintained a system which encourages the elite to invest their wealth into this country utilising low tax rates and financial loop holes. Promising a trickle-down effect, society has been misled by these policies when statistics tell us that the opposite trend occurs: the wealthy are becoming richer whilst the rest of us are becoming poorer. This extreme polarization of wealth has created the plutocrat, a one percent club that now owns as much wealth as the remaining ninety nine percent combined.

Inequality reaches its pinnacle in capital London, where the elite reside in sky level penthouses while so many others struggle to keep themselves above the poverty line. It is clear that we are reaching a politic shift with a growing awareness of these non sustainable conditions. History teaches us that this paradigm only ever leads to two outcomes: a police state or rebellion.

This work aims to shine a spot light on this issue by positioning itself in the near future; a future where the plutocrats have been pushed away by society, disconnected with ground level London, they now walk among the clouds. Still in control of global corporations, some call them overlords; in fear of ever coming down, some call them prisoners.
